7 Nov 2006 - Planning Committee to rule on site of St Andrew's old hall
FORA has objected to the scheme -- which would occupy this landmark site in the Leytonstone Conservation Area -- on a number of grounds.
This view of the church, listed as a Grade II building by English Heritage, would disappear.
FORA's Chair, Peter Leighton, will be among those speaking for residents at the Planning Committee meeting. It will take place at the Waltham Forest Town Hall, in Forest Road, at 7.30pm, and is open to the public.
The scheme is being recommended for approval by the planning case officer. His report says the proposal has generated considerable opposition from local residents. Ninety-two (92) individual letters of objection were received and a petition containing 39 signatures. As well as FORA, Waltham Forest Civic Society and a Forest Ward councillor have also objected.
The Council itself was the seller of the site to the developer in February this year. An application for a similar scheme to build flats on the site was made by the Council last year, but was rejected by the then Planning Committee.
TURN UP ON TUESDAY IF YOU WANT TO SHOW COUNCILLORS THAT YOU DON'T WANT THIS SCHEME
