Judging has taken place in the FORA IN BLOOM competition, 2007.Prizes were awarded for the best front garden and the best planted container.

Cyril Smith, who is a show judge for the Royal Horticultural Society, decided the winners. A local professional gardener, he was also a judge at this year's Hampton Court flower show.

The organisers said they were very impressed with the general standard of entries for the competition, which was extended beyond FORA in the E11 area to promote the idea of making it a more colourful and greener place.

Best Front Garden was awarded to Chris Dick of 183 Forest Road. The runner-up was Thelma D'oyley of 27 Colworth Road.

Thelma was also the winner in the other category, Best Planted Container. The runner-up was Lubna Khokhar of 38 Colchester Road.

Winners received a gardening voucher worth £20.Runners-up received a £10 voucher. It is intended to make the event an annual one.

The organisers were FORA members -- Mina Patel, Simon Richards, Carmela Crute-Jones, and Frances Simmons.
